It’s Like IV Therapy for Your Spirit

When your spirit needs renewal, a Bible passage like this one will bring your levels up

“And renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

-David, Psalm 51:10

How are your levels? Have you checked them lately?

By levels, I mean your spiritual levels.

The reason I ask is because they get low sometimes.

When this happens, it can bring on a sense of weariness or lethargy. You just feel like there’s nothing in your tank. No motivation. No vision. No enthusiasm.

Your spirit is depleted and you need replenishment asap.

The Eagle Verse

This was the situation when God gave Isaiah the words of Isaiah 40. At the time, the people were beaten down and dried out spiritually.

So, when they received Isaiah’s comforting message, it was like spiritual IV therapy for them. It renewed them. It restored them to a healthier place. It brought their color back. It reinvigorated them for their faith journey.

While the entire chapter is uplifting and inspiring, the last few verses are especially powerful. You will probably recognize them right away because they are often quoted, especially the part about eagles:

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
    his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
    and to him who has no might he increases strength.
 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
    and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
    they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31)

There you have it. Everyone gets weary. As this passage says, it even happens to the young and strong.

And when it happens, the key is to remember that God can renew you inwardly. When life depletes you, God can renew. The One who never gets tired is always ready to revitalize us when our levels are down and we are weary in spirit.

Trust him on this. Recommit your life to him, for this might well be the most energizing thing you could do for your weary spirit.

A Grace Infusion

When we meditate on beautiful passages like this one from Isaiah, it is as if our spirits have received an infusion of God’s grace. It fills us with hope and promise. Our once-weary spirit is now rejuvenated and ready to have another go at life.

May God infuse you with a healthy dose of his abundant grace today. And, like an eagle, may you soar in spirit once again.

It’s a new day with God. Run with it.
