I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus

1 Corinthians 1:4

Dear Love,

Rather than a generic “Happy Thanksgiving” this year, I’d like to offer something more personal. I’d like to tell you how much I appreciate you and why.

To start with, I appreciate your beautiful attitude. I notice how no matter what is going on around you, more often than not you choose to remain positive and graceful. Rather than getting absorbed by the negative spirit that seems to blanket our culture, you keep on reflecting the light and love of Jesus. Thanks for that.

Two, I appreciate how you are willing to forgive. No matter how often you are treated poorly, you are soon ready to extend forgiveness and move forward. I’ve never heard you lob the phrase “I’m done” at anyone. When the people in your life need a second chance, you give it to them. By now, you’ve probably given a thousand second chances. Thanks for that.

Three, I appreciate that you are trying so hard to grow as a person. I see you pouring over Scripture before bedtime after a long and hard day. Many times I’ve caught you in the act of praying when you thought you were by yourself. I know it hasn’t been easy. Life has been so good, but also so hard at the same time. But you haven’t given up. You just keep on showing up to every day with your kind and gracious spirit. Thanks for that.

I could not imagine making the journey without you. This Thanksgiving, one thing’s for sure…I thank God for you.

It’s a new day with God. Run with it.
