Thanking God for Answered Prayer

I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.

Psalm 9:1

Do you find yourself ever forgetting to thank God for answers to prayer? I do.

Every day I bring requests to God asking for His help. (This is exactly what He wants us to do – Philippians 4:6).

And every day, if I’m paying attention, somewhere there is an answer to prayer. It may be something small, like needed clarity for a decision that has to be made, or it may be something big, like the news that our health crisis appears to finally be on a downturn. In both cases these were prayer requests, things that I’ve been bringing before God regularly.

But sometimes, if I’m honest, I forget to thank God for the answer to prayer. I fail to make the connection between the good thing that just happened and the probability that God is the one who made it happen.

I’m working on this.

Would you care to join me?

As we cautiously embrace the news that the strength of COVID and its relatives is in decline, may we remember to take a moment to thank God for this welcomed news. With our heads bowed, or with our heads lifted – whichever you prefer – let’s be sure to thank God for every answer to prayer.

It’s a new day with God. Run with it.
