Top 10 Bible Verses on Fear

This list isn’t official nor is it exhaustive, but if fear is messing with you right now, here are some of the Bible’s most encouraging words to help restore calm. These are 10 of my favorite verses on fear. As you read them, keep in mind that in their original context these words were spoken to people like you and me who, in the moment, were panic-stricken and struggling with a variety of  fears – fear of death, fear of failure, fear of disaster, etc.

Read them as if they belong to you, because they do

#10. Isaiah 41:10 – fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

#9. Deuteronomy 1:21 – See, the Lord your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

#8. Psalm 118:6 – The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

#7. I John 4:18 – There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

#6. Luke 2:10 – And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”

#5. Matthew 28:5-6 – But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay

#4. 2 Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

#3. Hebrews 13:6 – So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

#2. Psalm 56:3 – When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.

#1. Joshua 1:9 – Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

And you thought you were the only one?!? Silly you. Not at all.

It’s a new day with God. Run with it
