Have you ever noticed when you’re in a difficult situation and someone asks if there is anything they can do, the response often goes like this: “Just pray for me“?

It’s as if we’re saying,

“There’s really nothing you can actually do to help so…just pray for me.”

May I suggest it is time we take the “Just” out of “Just pray for me”? Let me explain why.

To pray for someone isn’t a token gesture or a last resort when all other options have failed. It is one of the most beneficial, life-altering things we can offer. If someone goes to the throne of grace in Jesus’ Name on your behalf, there is no “just” about it because what they are doing for you is hugely helpful.

No, prayer is not a second-rate, lesser form of help. It is exactly what you need when life is coming at you – someone petitioning God on the merits of Jesus just for you, asking God to do in you and for you what only He can do.

So if prayer is what God says it is, powerful and effective, then we can drop the “Just” and enthusiastically say “Yes, there is something you can do for me if you will. Pray for me.” 

It may not be the only thing they can do, but if it is the only thing, it is a mighty good thing.
